| 1. | Does Mastering Business work on both PC and Macintosh computers?
Yes, your Mastering Business CD-ROM is both PC and Macintosh compatible.

| 2. | Can I run Mastering Business off a network?
The current version of Mastering Business does not run on a network. It runs directly from the CD-ROM drive on individual computers. However, an online version of Mastering Business is in development and will be available sometime in the near future.

| 3. | How do I start the Mastering Business CD?
Windows Instructions
- Insert the Mastering Business CD into your CD-ROM drive. It should start automatically. If it does not, you can start the program using one of the following methods.
- Select Run from the Start menu on the Taskbar.
- Type D:\MasteringXXX.html (where D is your CD-ROM drive and XXX is the series/discipline you are running, for example, MasteringMarketing.html. IMPORTANT NOTE: Many computers are set to hide the file extensions of common files. In this case, you may only see a file called MasteringMarketing—without the ".html" extension)
Or
- Double click the My Computer icon on your Desktop.
- Double click the CD-ROM drive.
- Double click the MasteringXXX or MasteringXXX.html file (where XXX is the series/discipline you are running, for example, MasteringMarketing.html).
- On the "splash" screen, click on the button that says "Click here to begin."
Macintosh Instructions
Follow the steps below to run Mastering Business on a Macintosh.
- Insert the disk into your CD-ROM drive.
- Double click the MasteringXXX icon on your Desktop. (where XXX is the series/discipline you are running, for example, Mastering Marketing).
- Double click the MasteringXXX.html file (where XXX is the series/discipline you are running, for example, MasteringMarketing.html).
- On the "splash" screen, click on the button that says "Click here to begin."

| 4. | What will I find in an episode?
Each episode of Mastering Strategy proceeds as follows:
- Introduction: A brief text description of what the student will see in the Introductory Video.
- Introductory Video: A dramatization of the central challenge faced by CanGo.
- Concepts: A brief text discussion of the theory and concepts addressed in the Introductory Video.
- Exercises: Questions that ask the user to apply knowledge and skills to the challenge explored in the Introductory Video.
- Resolution Video: A presentation of how the CanGo team responded to the challenge.
- Case Video: A presentation of a new challenge related to the central issue of the episode.
- Discussion Questions: Questions that ask the user to reflect on the challenge dramatized in the Case Video.
At every point of transition you will find directions that clearly indicate how to move to the next segment of the episode.

| 5. | What do I do if I don't hear any of the audio?
- Make sure your speakers are turned on.
- Make sure the volume is turned to the appropriate level.
- Make sure your speakers are properly plugged into your computer.
- Make sure your sound card is properly configured.
If QuickTime is installed and the audio still doesn't work, change the QuickTime setting using this quick four step procedure:
- Click on "Start" and select "Settings" and then "Control Panel"
- Double-click on the "QuickTime" icon
- In the window that opens, find the drop-down box and select "Sound Out"
- Then select the "waveOut" device for playback from the drop down menu

| 6. | What if I only see a white box on the left of the screen instead of a video window?
Click the "REFRESH" button on your web browser and/or make sure you have QuickTime Player (4.0 or above) installed on your computer.
If QuickTime is installed and the video still doesn't work, change the QuickTime setting using this quick four step procedure:
- Click on "Start" and select "Settings" and then "Control Panel"
- Double-click on the "QuickTime" icon
- In the window that opens, find the drop-down box and select "Video Settings"
- Click on the radio button next to "Safe Mode (GDI Only)"

| 7. | What do I do if the video doesn't start when I click on the icon?
Make sure you have the QuickTime Player (4.0 or above) installed in your computer and that your software is compatible with the QuickTime Player.

| 8. | How do I install the QuickTime 4 player from the CD-ROM?
If you do not see the video player controls on the top left of your screen when on the Introduction page of a given episode, you may need to install QuickTime 4. To install QuickTime 4 on your computer, follow the following steps:
Windows Users:
- Double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- Double click on the icon for your CD-ROM drive. If this does not work right click and select open.
- Double click on the folder called quicktimeinstallation
- Double click on the file called quicktimeinstaller or quicktimeinstaller.exe
- Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation of the QuickTime software.
Macintosh Users:
- Double click on the MasteringXXX CD-ROM icon on your desktop (where XXX is the series/discipline you are running, for example, Mastering Marketing).
- Double click on QuickTime Installer.smi to mount the disk image on your desktop.
- Double click on the QuickTime Installer disk image on your desktop.
- Double click on the QuickTime Installer application and follow the onscreen prompts to install QuickTime.
- Restart your system to complete the installation.

| 9. | What do I do if I do not have a compatible Web browser installed?
If you don't have the appropriate Internet browser software then follow these instructions to install Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5:
Windows Users:
- Double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- Double click on the icon for your CD-ROM drive.
- Double click on the folder called MSIE.
- Double click on the file called ie5setup or ie5setup.exe.
- Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation of the Internet Explorer software.
Macintosh Users:
- Double click on the Mastering Strategy CD-ROM icon on your desktop.
- Double click on Internet Explorer.smi to mount the disk image.
- Drag the folder called Internet Explorer 5 from the disk image to your hard drive to install Internet Explorer.

| 10. | When I click on the "View Double Size" button to view the larger video, the sound from the smaller video continues. How do I get the sound only from the larger video?
If the small video is already playing when you click on "View Double Size," you will get the sound from both videos simultaneously. In order to prevent this, you need to STOP the smaller video BEFORE clicking on the "View Double Size" button. If you are already playing the larger video, click on the smaller video screen to stop playback and then return to the larger video screen.

| 11. | What do I do if nothing happens when I click on any of the outside links included in the exercises?
External links may be temporarily unavailable for a variety of reasons, including power outages, server maintenance, and problems on the Internet. Check the Updates page for the episode you are viewing for information and/or alternative links. Click on http://www.prenhall.com/masteringbusiness/updates/.

| 12. | How do I close the Mastering Business program?
Go to the File menu in the upper left corner of your Web browser. Click on the menu and select Close (Windows) or Quit (Macintosh). Alternatively, Windows users may click on the X in the upper right corner of the browser and Mac users can click on the box in the upper left hand corner of the browser.

| 13. | Who do I contact for additional help on getting Mastering Business to work?
If you have a problem running the CD, review the ReadMe file on your CD. If you still have a problem or question about the CD call 1-800-677-6337 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday. You can also send a message to media.support@pearsoned.com.
Our technical support staff will need to know certain things about your system in order to help us solve your problems more quickly and efficiently. If possible, please be at your computer when you call for support. You should have the following information ready:

- computer make and model;

| 18. | Why does the video not work?
Microsoft made changes to Internet Explorer 5.5 sp2 and Internet
Explorer 6, which necessitate an update in order to play QuickTime videos in these browsers. If you are using one of these browsers, you need to
download an "ActiveX" control for QuickTime. Proceed to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ and you should be automatically prompted to download and install the ActiveX control. Once the control is installed, you can access the QuickTime videos normally.
