This page contains a "Quick Start" guide that explains the basic components of Mastering Business. We also have an online set of Frequently Asked Questions. You can move through each episode by clicking on the "next page" hyperlinks at the bottom of each page. Each episode contains six sections: Introduction, Concepts, Exercises, Resolution, Case, and Discussion. You can jump to a particular section by clicking the link for that section which is located underneath the episode title. In some episodes you may need to go to the Mastering Business Web site or the CanGo Intranet site to access additional information such as private e-mails, memos, and other documents. The "homepage" and "intranet" buttons on the left side of the screen link to the Mastering Business Web site and the CanGo Intranet site respectively. These buttons are located under the video. There is also a button that links to the "Table of Contents."Now let's take a look at an episode in detail. IntroductionThis provides a summary of the episode's theme and presents the Introductory Video.
ConceptsThis section presents a summary of the concepts which underly the issues addressed in the episode.
ExercisesThis section presents interactive exercises in which you utilize your understanding of the concepts to address the issues raised in the Introductory Video.
ResolutionThe Resolution Video depicts how the situation presented in the Introductory Video played out at CanGo. Think about how the resolution may have differed at CanGo if other choices were made. After you have watched the video, proceed to the Case section. CaseThe Case Video may take the issues raised in the Introductory Video and Resolution Video a step further or present an additional situation which relates to the concepts underlying the episode. Watch the video and then proceed to the Discussion section. DiscussionThis section presents discussion questions related to the issues raised in the Case Video. This episode is completed when you have answered the discussion questions. Troubleshooting:No Compatible Internet BrowserIf you don't have the appropriate Internet browser software then follow these instructions to install Microsoft Internet Explorer: WindowsTo install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, click the "Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5" button on the welcome screen which appears when you insert the CD. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. Please follow the steps below if the Mastering Business welcome screen is not visible.
MacintoshPlease follow the instructions below to install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0.
No SoundIf you do not get any sound when playing the videos on the CD, check to see if your speakers are plugged in and turned on. If this is correctly set up, check to see that the volume controls on the speakers and your computer are set at an appropriate level. Check your computer's help files for additional instructions on adjusting the volume. No Video PlayerIf you do not see video player controls on the top left of your screen when on the introduction page to an episode, you may need to install Quicktime 4. To install Quicktime 4 on your computer: WindowsTo install QuickTime, click the "Install QuickTime" button on the welcome screen which appears when you insert the CD. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. Please follow the steps below if the Mastering Business welcome screen is not visible.
MacintoshFollow the instructions below to install QuickTime.
Sound from Both Large and Small Videos SimultaneouslyIf the small video is already playing when you click on "View Double Size," you will get the sound from both videos playing simultaneously. To prevent this, you need to STOP the smaller video BEFORE clicking the "View Double Size" button. If you are already playing the larger video, click on the smaller video screen to stop playback and then return to the larger video screen. Technical SupportIf you have a problem running the CD, review the ReadMe file. If you still have a problem or question about the CD call 1-800-677-6337 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday. You can also send a message to media.support@pearsoned.com. Our technical support staff will need to know certain things about your system in order to help us solve your problems more quickly and efficiently.
